We always complain that educated and well cultured people don’t enter politics. But Shivsena has given an end to this notion under the guidance of Shivsena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackarey and Shivsena Chief Uddhavji Thackarey. Many highly educated young leaders emerged in Politics since the inception of Shivsena and they contributed towards the development of Maharashtra. Mr. Rahul Shewale, Chairman, Standing Committee, MCGM is one of them. He chose the way towards politics even when he was settled in his life through construction business as he was a civil engineer. Now he is actively involved Political and social life of Mumbai.

Highly moral Background

Mr. Rahul Ramesh Shewale was born on the auspicious day of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, on 14th April 1973, in a well cultured family in Mumbai. His mother Mrs. Jayashri Shewale was MTNL employee and father Ramesh Sambhaji Shewale was officer in Indian navy. They imbibed the values of discipline, self respect, honesty and patriotism in their three children. Rahul’s elder brother Avinash is a software engineer and he is settled in US. Navin is a doctor.

Rahul always say that he has a major impact of his father’s personality. His father had told him long before that society should look at them proudly as Rahul Shewale’s parents. We will not accept being parents of a corrupt and inefficient leader. Rahul is living in a joint family and has kept this promise till date.

Rahul got his life partner in MCGM while climbing success ladder step by step. He got married with Shivsena corporator Kamini Mayekar on 14th February 2005. Mrs. Kamini Rahul Shewale is a good homemaker and at the same time she is helping him in his public life with her experience being corporator. Master Swayam and Master Vedant are his two sons.

Education and learning

Rahul got his school education from Dharmaprakash Shrinivasayya Highschool. He got his Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Bandra, Mumbai. He was into service for sometime after that. Now he is an entrepreneur as an civil engineer.

He always participated in various competitions during his school and college life. He played various games like cricket, table tennis, badminton during this period. He was the member of hockey team during his college life.

Public life

He was elected as GS through Ajinkya Panel of Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena. He had Shivsena culture in his blood. He had complete trust on his ideal Shivsena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackarey’s thoughts. He was active Shivsainik from tender age. He got a chance to lead in college. He was active as ward leader. Then he became Shakhapramukh of shakha no 186 in 1998. He got an opportunity to work under the leadership of Ex- Ward leader and current treasurer of Bhartiya Kamgar Sena Mr. Manohar Salvi. He immersed himself in public life through his social work after becoming Shakha pramukh.

Rahul could see the results of his dedication and hardwork in 2002 BMC elections. He defeated three term Corporator Philip Eso in 2002 Corporation Elections and entered historical BMC as corporator.

He was selected as Ward Committee chairman in 2004. He got an opportunity to contest 2005 Vidhansabha (Legislative assembly) elections from Anushakti nagar constituency. He gave a tight fight in the election. Again in 2007 BMC elections he got elected. Anushakti Nagar residents voted him whole heartedly as a result of his work. He was elected as a Standing committee Chairman in 2010.

He again got elected in 2012 BMC elections and was elected as Standing Committee chairman, the post he is holding till date. He was active in BMC on other posts like Law committee member, Market and Garden Committee chairman, Chief Speaker, Ward Committee Chairman. He fulfilled his responsibilities with great zeal and hardwork which was appreciated from time to time.

Road ahead

Having involved in great work for Mumbai through BMC, Rahul Shewale is now set to move further and take the issues related to Mumbai in Loksabha. Mumbai has seen his youthful appearance, commitment to work and dedication during his tenure as corporator and standing committee chairman. He will fight for Mumbai’s issues in Delhi and bring back a better life for Mumbaikars. Mumbai is the financial capital of India and still, it doesn’t get enough funding and representation in the centre. This lacuna will be fulfilled with Rahul Shewale entering into Loksabha. A young, educated and enthusiastic leader is call of the hour. Rahul Shewale will be the one who can take the cause of Mumbai’s life ahead.
